Race bike pre-event checklist

Check the race bike early enough to repair a fault before loading day. The event organiser’s rules and scrutineering requirements still apply.

01 / Motorcycle checks

Check the bike before loading it.

Work methodically and record what you find. A quick look on the morning of the event leaves little time to source parts or make a proper repair.

01

Controls and fasteners

Check lever feel, throttle return, bar mounts, footrests, bodywork, wiring, visible fasteners and any safety wire required for the bike.

02

Fluids and leaks

Look for fluid leaks, hose damage, signs of overheating and changes since the last session. Recheck brake feel after the motorcycle is warmed.

03

Tyres, brakes and drive

Confirm tyre condition and pressures, brake pad depth, wheel condition, chain adjustment and sprocket wear.

02 / Event preparation

Pack the information as well as the bike.

A record of settings, conditions and repairs gives the rider and mechanic a baseline for the next session.

01

Read the event requirements

Check the current class rules, entry information and scrutineering requirements. A workshop checklist does not replace them.

02

Bring the setup notes

Record tyre pressures, suspension settings, gearing, fuel, weather and any work completed since the last meeting.

03

Leave time for repairs

Complete the check before loading day so a worn part, damaged fitting or recurring fault can be dealt with properly.

Your next step

Get the next event into the diary.

Send the motorcycle details, event date and the preparation work you want to discuss.
